Job Summary

Responsible for design, development, procurement, installation, modifications, repair, and software support of product and product test equipment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Consult and correspond with lab and production personnel on the status of test equipment and problems with test equipment operation to ensure all testing equipment remains operational and testing completion dates are maintained.
  2. Must be willing to assist others in software debugging and analysis.
  3. Must be willing to instruct others in software analysis and code changes.
  4. Designing and modification of product testing software.
  5. Planning and designing new projects and providing electrical schematics, test layouts, and complete documentation.
  6. Researching new test equipment and software needs for product testing and project planning.
  7. Must be willing to train on any new software required for the operation of the Test Engineering Dept and Failure Analysis where applicable.
  8. Ordering and tracking new equipment and software to ensure project advancement and completion is timely.
  9. Ordering and tracking of all software and licensing required by the Test Engineering Dept. and Failure Analysis where applicable.
  10. Validating new test equipment perfomance to ensure GR&R requirements are met.
  11. Ordering and tracking components and materials to ensure project advancement and completion is timely.
  12. Reviewing product dockets for cost, feasability, and capability of product testing on new and modified products.
  13. Making recommendations on specification changes for product testing.
  14. Reviewing new and modified customer specifications for correctness and impact on product performance and testing impact.
  15. Researching and assisting in developing test equipment and procedures according to customer standards for production and laboratory testing.
  16. Assist in developing software for new and existing test equipment.
  17. Responsible for consultation on technical problems as related to product test equipment or procedures.
  18. Responsible to review test equipment performance for improvement in efficiency and cycle times.
  19. Responsible for maintaining documentation pertaining to test equipment and software developed by HEC.
  20. Must complete the required training for the position (see Training Plan for Test Technology).
  21. Strive for continuous improvement in performing job duties and responsibilities.
  22. Assist in Continuous Improvement Projects to determine opportunities for test sequence optimization.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum education requirement is a BSEE, or an Associate’s Degree with emphasis on electronics and five (5) years minimum related experience in working with laboratory and production test equipment and programming and repair of microprocessor-based test equipment.
  • Proficient in C++ programming.
  • Knowledgeable of C# programming.
  • Knowledge of surface mount technology is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with managing projects, budgets, and tracking milestones for procurement and validation of new test equipment is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with in-circuit testing of printed circuit boards is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agilent and/or IFR in-circuit testers is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in DOS and Windows environments and in C or Visual Basic programming.
  • Knowledge of LabWindows CVI and Labview is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with operation and theory of typical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, a.s.o.
  • Ability to design and construct electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to review and understand internal, government and customer testing specifications.
  • Ability to review with customers their specific product testing requirements for review and changes.
  • Ability to understand the production processes and the applications of our products.
  • Ability to write software to implement automated product testing.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of company personnel to review discuss and resolve product testing issues.
  • Must be able to work in a multinational team environment.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally.
