Job Summary

Responsible for leading and directing Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering projects to successful completion. Provides ergonomic solutions, material flow and value-added aspects to new and existing production lines. Provides reliable data basis for calculation, capacity planning and costing. Guides the cross-functional Lean Manufacturing Team in planning, analysis, improvement recommendations, payback analysis, approval, and deployment processes.  Performs improvement analysis using HelPS and/or Lean Manufacturing tools.  Provides mentoring and training local industrial engineering and lean manufacturing expert.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Determination of industrial engineering data for planning and compensation, including by means of MTM, time studies, setup time recording, multi-moment records, comparisons and estimates or self-recording – where applicable also for indirect areas.
  2. Cooperate in capacity determination of operating equipment and work systems - where applicable, cooperation in the working out of possibilities for capacity adjustment on the basis of the target figure trend.
  3. Check of the routings in the system (SAP, eM-Planner and others) drawn up or changed by process/production schedulers for correctness in accordance with AD-00140 to assure correct wage and final costing data. If applicable, triggering of correction by the process/production scheduler or independent updating of the industrial engineering data and fields of the routing. Check of adherence to planned working method and calculated cycle times in the launch phase (launch support). Updating and processing of the indices "open rating data“ and "te change“.
  4. Cooperate in the development of working time models in the case of shift work in production.
  5. Cooperate in the designing of work systems with the aim of improving the productivity of production process flows under ergonomic aspects.
  6. Directs assigned Lean Manufacturing projects to achieve targeted savings.
  7. Leads cross-functional Lean Manufacturing Project Team on assigned projects, train project team members on Utilization of Lean Manufacturing Tools and HelPS
  8. Mentors Lean Manufacturing Engineer candidates on Lean tools, analysis, and project strategy.
  9. Prepares and presents status of assigned projects.
  10. Establishes and nurtures a Lean Manufacturing culture within HEC and maintains the Lean Manufacturing education program.
  11. Prepares and submits GE FIT savings proposals to document achieved project savings.
  12. Strives for continuous improvement in performing job duties and responsibilities.
  13. Must complete the required training for the position (see Training Plan for Operational Excellence).

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Five (5) or more years experience in manufacturing (electronics preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Two (2) years experience certified in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Must be conscientious and maintain confidentiality in daily operations.
  • Conduct daily duties in professional appearance and manner.
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving ability.
  • Must have strong Project Management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job requires leading, directing, and delegating to cross-functional team members assigned to Lean Manufacturing projects.
