Systems Engineers in our electronics division work on developing a diverse set of electronics products focused on power electronics.  This includes a variety of systems engineering activities like requirements engineering, system architecture, configuration management, problem and change management in a multi-disciplinary agile team using state of the art systems engineering methodologies.   Systems Engineers in our electronics division work on developing a diverse set of electronics products focused on power electronics.  This includes a variety of systems engineering activities like requirements engineering, system architecture, configuration management, problem and change management in a multi-disciplinary agile team using state of the art systems engineering methodologies.   

Duties and Responsibilities

Development of system specifications and system architectures

Clarifying and defining system requirements demanded on the system by the customers, standards such as norms, statutes, safety requirements and by HELLA’s domains.

Coordinating cross-function requirements and measures.

Drafting, creating and coordinating with involved entities the functional system specifications and system architecture in accordance with general guidelines and methods, with the inclusion of the existing proprietary, standard and third party systems.

 

Coordinating and monitoring realization of the system specifications

Administrating the 'Requirements' - development environment and tools for the project team.

Creating an information model for the project, inclusive documentation of all necessary game rules and peripheral conditions together with involved entities.

Creating a system engineering planning and steering project teams within the corresponding framework.

Ensuring that the defined standards are complied with within the system development framework.

 

Configuration management

Defining and planning configuration management in the project for the overall product in terms of construction, hardware and software or of a system and its components.

Administrating the configuration environment and tools for the project teams.

 

Trouble shooting and change management

Defining and planning trouble shooting and change management in the project for the overall product in terms of construction, hardware and software or of a system and its components.

Organizing and chairing System Change Control Boards (CCB).

Building tool chaining and the build environment.

Coordinating and steering all fault and change management activities between Hella and the customer.

 

Risk management

Defining and planning risk management in the project for the overall product in terms of construction, hardware and software or of a system and its components.

Administrating the risk management tool for the project teams.

 

System integration

Planning and conducting the integration and integration test at system level.

 

Other

Recording KPIs (metrics) for the respective working results and for the process quality

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in automotive industry (preferably 8+years system engineering experience) 
  • Prior experience in evaluating, analyzing and eliciting requirements
  • Experience in the evaluation of functional, technical architectures at the system as well as component level
  • Knowledge of system integration
  • Ability to manage cross-domain assignments with high levels of composure and work in a cross functional global team. Inter-cultural adaptability and collaboration is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, MKS/PTC, DOORs, APIS.
  • Ability/willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Travel < 20%

     

    Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Electical / Mechanical Engineering
  • Specialization in mechatronics or systems Engineerin
  • Knowledge of power electronics
  • Knowledge of IBM Rhapsody software
  • Knowledge of systems modelling language (SysML)
  • Knowledge of System FMEAs/FTAs
  • Strong understanding of software/hardware interfaces
  • Very strong problem solving skills with good exposure to 8D, Ishikawa, ‘5 whys’ methods
  • Knowledge and understanding of ASPICE, ISO26262 standards and methods
  • Understanding of Tier-1 or North American OEM development, sourcing, and launch process
  • Prior experience in AGILE methods (KANBAN, SCRUM) and tools (JIRA)
